The Arizona Cardinals have one of the finer stadiums across the NFL. University of Phoenix Stadium is used for plenty of events outside of football, and understandably so. One of the best features of the building is the retractable roof, and it was definitely needed on Tuesday after a gigantic rainstorm took the Phoenix area by surprise.

The rain was so strong, the stadium couldn’t keep it out. The winds were fierce, and as Forrest Gump would say, it was raining sideways. It looked like a river was outside of the stadium.

This is just insane:

This was certainly not your average rain. And it doesn’t rain often in Phoenix, but you wouldn’t know it by seeing this storm.

It looks like somebody is pouring down water off the top of the building by the gallons:

Surely that Arizona heat will dry that up in no time, but that’s quite the downpour. Perhaps the Cardinals could take a day off and let it water their field (since they still use grass), but the platform that brings the field in and out likely isn’t quick enough to save the playing field.
