Lost in the news of the Chargers’ move from San Diego to Los Angeles is that they hired the first African-American head coach in team history in former Bills Offensive Coordinator Anthony Lynn.
In his introductory press conference, force of habit nearly forced Lynn into an all-time great Freudian slip, as you can see below:
We’re all going to say this for a while, since it’s never going to make sense or seem natural to say “Los Angeles Chargers”, but the new head coach almost saying it just a few days after the team moved cities makes it pretty hilarious.
Lynn’s presser was held at the StubHub Center, the soccer stadium in which the Chargers will be temporarily housed for the next two seasons. In case you wanted to laugh even more at the stupidity of Dean Spanos, here’s what some of the set-up will look like:

This would be considered the worst seat at the 30,000-seat StubHub Center, home of the LA Chargers for two seasons. pic.twitter.com/jMHx0GPdAh

It’s worth reminding everyone that the StubHub Center is a soccer stadium first and foremost and the Chargers are playing second fiddle to the LA Galaxy for home dates there, which makes sense as they’re a better and more well-run football team than the Chargers are.
Everything about this move is sad, yet absolutely hilarious at the same time.
