Bill Belichick is known for his super guarded, always-serious persona, but after a Super Bowl win, the New England Patriots head coach let loose on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Belichick appeared on the late night show alongside wide receiver Julian Edelman where he showed off a little bit of his personality. Belichick cracked jokes, smiled and even held Edelman’s hand while making a joke about the harmony in the Patriots locker room.
It’s bizarre to see Belichick smile and enjoy himself in a very public spotlight. The dude is usually a robot. It contradicts almost everything about him. Belichick never lets his personality shine through on the football field, instead opting to be a hard-ass, emotionless coach for his Patriots. So, to see him smiling (which looks weird) and having some fun is a surprising look.
Who is this man and what happened to the real Belichick?
Joking aside, it’s great to see Belichick lighten up. He and the Patriots just pulled off the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history, cementing his status as the greatest NFL coach of all-time. If that’s not worth smiling about, I don’t know what is.
