Nick Folk

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hoped to solve their kicking issues by cutting former second-round draft pick Roberto Aguayo and replacing him with veteran Nick Folk, a once-reliable kicker who made converted a respectable 25-of-27 field goals inside 50 yards for the Jets last season.

But maybe the problem was never Aguayo, who missed an extra point and a 47-yarder in his final game with the team last week. Possibly, the Bucs are simply cursed.

Folk lined up his first kick of the night, an extra point from the left hash, and it got blocked by Jaguars defensive lineman Calais Campbell.

That was a hideously low kick.

Folk achieved some redemption by splitting on the uprights twice on easy kicks in the second quarter, once from 35 yards and once from 29.

But he left Bucs fans angry when he came nowhere close on a 47-yarder. Even Tampa Bay head coach Dirk Koetter couldn’t believe it, and ESPN play-by-play man Sean McDonough called the kick “Aguayo-esque”.

You’ll definitely see this on the next episode of Hard Knocks.
