Cam Newton has gotten his fair share of hits this year, especially in the first game of the season. Some would say that those hits have set the tone for the entire season.

As Cam Newton has made it known to the league that he is ready to talk to them about “horsecrap hits”, the NFL has decided to take a different stance about it all. They would rather prove him wrong rather than admitting any fault at all.

According to Pro Football Talk, the league says the Newton is faring much better than many quarterbacks in the league. Since 2013, the league claims that referees have only missed three roughing calls against him. On the other hand, 11 other quarterbacks have had more missed roughing calls.

Jay Cutler, Alex Smith, Geno Smith, Josh McCown, Andrew Luck, Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins, Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger, Case Keenum, and Ryan Tannehill were the players that the NFL claims have had more roughing penalties missed against them.

It is fascinating that the NFL is saying to sources that they do miss some calls, though it just isn’t something they want to admit to in regard to Newton. Newton is brash and a star in the league, and they obviously don’t want him to gain any more leverage over them and make the league look like a circus.

The NFL can admit that it is wrong – it just has to admit when you are wrong too. Essentially, the NFL is a seven year old and we are just the observers watching the league have a tantrum.
