Colin Kaepernick is continuing to generously dip into his own income to help those who need it.

Kaepernick’s silent protest of the U.S. national anthem has been a hot button issue around the NFL. While some, old-school football execs view his stance as disrespectful, others have embraced the San Francisco 49er’s QB. Since initially kneeling, Kaepernick’s jerseys have been the best seller on the 49ers website. With the rise in sales, Kaepernick has decided to donate 100% of the proceeds he’d receive from them back into communities.

In an Instagram post, Kaepernick explained he’s donating the proceeds to repay the support he’s been shown.

“I want to thank everyone who has shown me love and support, it truly means a lot! I wasn’t expecting my jersey sales to jump to number one because of this, but it shows the people’s belief that we can achieve justice and equality for ALL! The only way I can repay you for the support is to return the favor by donating all the proceeds I receive from my jersey sales back into the communities! I believe in the people, and WE can be the change!”

It’s another impressive gesture by Kaepernick to show how serious he is about making a difference. After sitting through the anthem, cries were aired about Kaepernick not putting his money where his mouth is. He’s shut the naysayers up and then some. On top of donating proceeds from jersey sales, Kaepernick announced last week he’s donating $1 million of his salary to help marginalized Americans.

Kaepernick is making a tangible difference with his actions and generosity. Hopefully, he inspires more athletes to do the same.
