Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain has been suspended for 10 games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, according to a report from ESPN.

This is the second time McClain has been suspended for violating the substance abuse policy after he missed the first four games of the 2015 season. The linebacker went on to play 11 games in 2015, picking up 80 tackles, two sacks, and an interception.
The suspensions are just a part of McClain’s strange tenure in Dallas. He missed the 2013 season after deciding to retire but came out of retirement and rejoined the Cowboys for the 2014 season.
Concerns about McClain came up once again during organized team activities, when the linebacker was nowhere to be found. Dallas executives came out and expressed their concern about McClain and the Dallas Morning News said there was “more going on with Rolando than meets the eye” back in June.
McClain’s time with the Cowboys was already expected to be coming to an end sooner rather than later. After Dallas signed McClain to a one-year, $5 million deal in March, the Cowboys drafted Jaylon Smith, who is expected to become McClain’s long-term replacement.
