We still have no idea exactly what happened in Pittsburgh over the weekend, but we do know Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has found himself in an undesirable situation one way or another. While visiting friends and family, Revis engaged in a physical altercation with two men on the street, and he is now being charged with robbery, terroristic threats, conspiracy, and aggravated assault.

A report from local CBS affiliate KDKA-TV quoted Revis’ lawyer saying the cornerback was assaulted by at least five people. However, police say two men on the street recognized Revis on the street and approached him. The situation turned into a “verbal argument,” and the two men believe they were punched unconscious before waking up to police.

Here’s the full police statement:

“On Sunday, February 12 at approximately 2:43 a.m., Zone 3 Officers were dispatched to the intersection of S. 23rd and E. Carson streets for a report that two males had been knocked unconscious. According to the investigation, a 22-year-old male from Kittanning was walking along E. Carson Street when he spotted a male who resembled Aliquippa native Darrelle Revis, a cornerback in the NFL. He asked if the man was Darrell Revis and he confirmed that he was. The male began recording the interaction on his cellphone and continued following Revis. At some point, Revis snatched the cellphone away and attempted to delete the video. Another 21-year-old male from Ross Township attempted to help the 22-year-old retrieve the cellphone. Revis then tossed the phone onto the roadway. A verbal argument followed. A male came to assist Revis. Both the 22-year-old and the 21-year-old state they were punched then remember waking up to talk to police. Witnesses state the two were unconscious for about 10 minutes. The officers viewed the cellphone video and confirmed that the person was Revis. Charges are pending against the 31-year-old Revis to include robbery, terroristic threats, conspiracy and aggravated assault.”

Both men went to the hospital, and one had broken bones around his eye. Revis’ lawyer said the cornerback also needed medical attention after the incident.

According to KDKA-TV, police have obtained the cell phone video, although there’s no information as to whether the evidence in the video could prove either side of the story. My guess is “no”, considering the phone was thrown into the street before the altercation turned physical. But the video did allow officers to confirm that the man was in fact Revis.

A previous report from WTAE.com said: “A police officer who drove by the area saw Revis speaking to two people; when he came back around, two of them were knocked out and Revis was gone, sources said.”

That quote has made its way into several second-hand reports. However, it is no longer included in WTAE’s updated report.

That being said, local newsman Beau Berman still has the original tweet with that information posted:

The Jets released a statement that they have spoken to Revis and are aware of the incident, but did not comment further.
