Tuesday’s news that Dallas Cowboys’ running back Darren McFadden has a broken elbow, reportedly sustained in an accident in his home over Memorial Day Weekend, sparked plenty of speculation about just how he hurt himself. Well, Cowboys’ running backs coach Gary Brown told USA Today‘s Eric Prisbee Tuesday that McFadden’s injury came from trying to catch his falling phone:

Sometime over Memorial Day weekend, Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden tried to catch his falling cell phone while at home and landed on his elbow, breaking the bone.

“Cracked his elbow instead of the phone,” said Cowboys running backs coach Gary Brown, who recounted the story Tuesday at the team’s minicamp.

Not knowing the extent of the injury, McFadden practiced last week at the team’s organized team activities. A physical Monday revealed the fracture.

McFadden, who ranked fourth in the league in rushing with 1,089 yards last season, underwent surgery Tuesday morning and is expected to be sidelined a few months, coach Jason Garrett said.

What kind of phone? Apparently, it’s a fancy iPhone 6S, but Brown doesn’t think it was worth the effort:

Well, at least the falling phone is more valuable than the pizza Nate Burleson tried to save?
