Derek Carr’s season prematurely ended after breaking his leg, but he seems to be in good spirits this offseason, and in a giving mood. Carr was in Dublin, California driving around earlier this week when he noticed a man who had run out of gas on the side of the road. Carr was a good samaritan and offered to give the man a lift, all the while having no idea he was being helped out by a current NFL QB.

Ron Reeser, a local radio producer, told his story to KTVU’s Frank Somerville:

The following day, Reeser and Carr further interacted on Twitter:

These stories seem pretty mundane, but they’re often underreported and show that incredibly famous and successful athletes aren’t just that. They’re more often than not incredibly kind and generous human beings who will go out of their way to help out those in a pinch. Carr has proven that he’s not only a fantastic QB, but a fantastic human being as well.
