The Houston Texans used the 12th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft to select quarterback Deshaun Watson on Thursday night, and the former Clemson superstar has already made an expensive purchase. But I think we can all approve of this one.
Watson surprised his mother, Deann, with a brand-new Jaguar for her birthday on Saturday. He posted on social media that his mom deserves the car, and that it’s her first official car.

After Deshaun was drafted on Thursday night, he was brought to tears while reading a letter from his mom. This is an amazing moment:

As Yahoo’s Jay Busbee explains, Deann raised Deshaun and his three siblings in one room for a while, and battled cancer:
Deann Watson raised Deshaun and his three siblings in one room before moving to the Atlanta suburbs. Stricken with cancer, she had her tongue surgically removed when Watson was in his teens. When Watson reached the point in the letter where she said that the family “wasn’t supposed to be here,” he lost his composure and began weeping. It was a touching moment.
“I love you, momma,” Watson said in reply. “We made it.”
So heck yeah she deserved that new car. Good man, Deshaun.
