Antonio Cromartie, in addition to being a Pro-Bowl caliber cornerback, apparently possesses child-bearing superpowers. The former All Pro welcomed a set of twins into the world Sunday, this despite having a vasectomy prior to conception.

Cromartie is already well known for the amount of children he has fathered, so many that he famously failed to recall all of their names in an episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks.

All told, the birth of Jynx Revell-Antonio Cromartie and his twin sister J’adore Nayvi Cromartie brings their father’s total child count up to 12 — four with his current wife Terricka, and eight from previous relationships.

While the news of twins, or any children, came as a surprise to the couple, they have taken the news in stride.

“It took me a while to process it,” Terricka Cromartie told US Weekly, “but Antonio stood firm and was saying, ‘It’s God’s will.’ And he’s been excited the whole time.”

However, the couple was hesitant to announce the news at first. Cromartie has taken a lot of flak in the media thanks to his proclivity for fatherhood. Despite this, the pair is apparently at peace with any potential negative reaction that might come in response to the news.

“To be honest, I’ve gone back and forth about if I wanted to share the news or not,” Terricka Cromartie said. “All my children are blessings and all of Antonio’s children are blessings, for that matter. It was made to seem that my children weren’t a blessing because they were categorized by a number, and for that reason and that reason alone, I hid both of my [first two] pregnancies with my husband, just so I could enjoy them with those who were really happy for me.”

Cromartie is currently a free agent. He played with the New York Jets last season — starting 15 in games — but failed to intercept a pass for the first time since his rookie campaign.

[UPDATE: Cromartie fired back at critics on Twitter]

As expected, the news of Cromartie becoming a father yet again was met with some snickers and some scorn. However, the former Jet issued a statement to his critics on Twitter Monday evening.
