In one’s opinion, how much weed is “a whole lot of weed”? 5 pounds? 10 pounds? For one ex-NFL player it’s 25 pounds.

Adrien Robinson was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the New York Giants out of the University of Cincinnati. From 2012-2015, the tight end played for the G-Men before signing a reserve/future contract with the New York Jets in 2016, eventually getting released without playing a game for them.

A year after being released from the Jets, Robinson is hoping for another release, this time from charges for possessing around 25 pounds of marijuana when he was stopped at a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Union County New York.

According to The Daily Item, Robinson posted $1,500 of the $15,000 bail that was set by the District Judge in his case. This came after Robinson was stopped by police on Monday in his vehicle with 25 pounds of weed inside.

“A search of the vehicle was conducted and yielded numerous large bags of marijuana,” Trooped Jared Mowen said in a police affidavit.

Numerous large bags sounds like a whole lot of trouble, especially when you mention the fact that inside said bags was weed.

Not only did Robinson have the marijuana in his car, but he also had it in his body. Mowen mentioned a field test of Robinson resulted in him testing positive for marijuana. Robinson was later charged with marijuana possession (a felony) and possessing drug paraphernalia (a misdemeanor).

When bail was being debated, Robinson mentioned how he was an NFL player who was working towards a comeback this season. Robinson had last been under contract with an NFL team over a year ago on May 8th, 2016, the day before the Jets released him before he ever played in a game for them.
