Former NFL wide receiver Terry Glenn passed away early Monday morning following a car accident in Texas. The 43-year old was confirmed dead by a Dallas County medical examiner, sending the NFL world into a state of mourning.

A 12-year player in the NFL, Glenn spent time with the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. He played in two Super Bowls with the Patriots, first in 1996 with Drew Bledsoe and again in 2001 with Tom Brady. Glenn’s legacy was a solid one that earned him rookie of the year recognition from Sports Illustrated in 1996 and later a spot on the Patriots’ All-1990s team. Prior to a career in the NFL, Glenn was among the best wide receivers in college at Ohio State. The former Buckeye was the 1995 Biletnikoff Award winner after originally walking on with the program.

Terry Glenn’s 12-year run in the NFL earned him respect throughout the league, and on Monday a number of former teammates throughout the years and other NFL personalities reflected on the tragic loss of Glenn.

And if you want a little piece of trivia to attach to Glenn, he was the receiver who caught the first career touchdown pass of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Glenn also was on the receiving end of the longest career pass thrown by Brady’s predecessor in New England, Drew Bledsoe.
