With Super Bowl LI in Houston, a big Texas name was always likely for the coin toss. And there are few bigger names in Texas history than the 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush. Accompanied by former First Lady Barbara, they seemed genuinely happy to be there.

Here they are entering the field:

Their presence is fairly remarkable when you consider that the former President was just released from the hospital less than a week ago after a bout with pneumonia. The former First Lady was released less than two weeks ago:

That’s awesome. Here’s the coin toss:

It was tails, if you had that particular prop bet.

That’s great. It’s another example too of how sports and politics are increasingly inseparable, but regardless of political leanings, wishing the former First Family continued good health isn’t that hard. Plus he just seemed so happy to be there!
