Houston Texans defensive star J.J. Watt donated $10,000 to a GoFundMe campaign for an injured high school football player who is in a coma.

“If there’s anything I can do to help,” Watt added in a message, “please let me know. Sending my best wishes to Grant and the entire Milton family.”

During a Woodlands High School game last Saturday, linebacker Grant Milton was critically injured and required emergency surgery. He is now in a medically induced coma, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The game took place in Waco, Texas, close to two hours away from The Woodlands. Watt’s money and the donations of others are being used for medical expenses and traveling expenses to the Milton family can stay by Grant’s side.

“We weren’t aware that there was even donations being set up,” Miles Milton, Grant’s father, told the Houston Chronicle. “We became aware of it shortly thereafter. My oldest son just let me know that J.J. [Watt] had donated, which he is one of many. That’s obviously a very substantial contribution. We have no idea what the medical bills are at the end of this, but what’s most important is the thought behind it. People just care. The amount of prayer that we get, we’ve just had an outpouring of prayer.”

Watt, a three-time defensive player of the year, has made several generous contributions through the JJ Watt Foundation during his NFL career, putting his $100 million contract to good use. He treated Houston firefighters and police officers to pizza in 2014 during Thanksgiving week, and paid for the cost of new football uniforms for a local junior high school.
