Prince Amukamara may not have the most conventional name, but at least it is spelled how it sounds. Still, that was not enough for the Jaguars equipment team, who sent their cornerback out on the field with his nameplate reading “Amuakmara.”

It’s only flipping the “a” and the “k”, so it’s not quite a “Natinals” level offense, but this is still pretty bad. This is not some practice-squad player elevated at the last minute; Amukamara is a six-year NFL veteran and a former first round pick. After spending the last five seasons with the New York Giants, this is his first season in Jacksonville, so I guess the equipment staff might be able to use that as an excuse.

Overall, it was a pretty rough day for NFL equipment teams all over the league. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz dealt with a pretty signifiant jersey malfunction of his own on Sunday. However, at least his was the expected result of a very large man pulling on it.

There’s probably a metaphor in here somewhere.
