Jay Cutler is one of the biggest enigmas in all of the NFL. Blessed with all of the tools to be a prototypical quarterback, he has never put it all together. Each team that has employed Cutler has shared their fan’s frustrations and have grown wary of the Vanderbilt gunslinger. Could his time as a starter in the NFL finally be up?

Getting injured at the beginning of the season is never good for a professional athlete. When you are a quarterback, it could always mean you are out of a job. Cutler might just be the next casualty to do so.

Chicago Bears head coach John Fox spoke to ESPN and was noncommittal about the starting job when talking about Cutler returning from injury.

“This is a day-to-day, week-to-week, what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league, and so we’re just trying to get the best 11 guys out there regardless of the position to where we can play a full 60 minutes and get a victory.”

Ouch. Not a ringing endorsement for the ol’ ball coach. What is Fox to say though in that scenario? Cutler isn’t getting any younger and seems to be getting more injury prone, making his albatross of a contract only loom larger.

The Bears are once again off to a rough start and, if it isn’t Cutler, it could be Fox looking for a different job. As the battle of wills rages on, maybe a fresh start for Cutler solve some of his problems.
