Joey Bosa, who was taken by the San Diego Chargers with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, is the only drafted rookie to not yet sign a contract. As a result, frustration is starting to build on both sides, including with Bosa’s mother.

As many folks over the age of 30 do, Bosa’s mother took her grievances to Facebook. In a comment thread, Cheryl Bosa said that she is bummed for her son and wishes they “pulled an Eli Manning on draft day.”

These comments come as San Diego and the defensive end are in a contract negotiating stalemate. The dispute has gone on for months now and is over the language of Bosa’s contract. According to previous reporting, a lot of the dispute comes over how Bosa’s signing bonus is distributed.

This dispute has led to the former Ohio State star staying off the field and his mother referencing a dark moment in Chargers history. In 2004, Manning was drafted by San Diego with the No. 1 overall pick. Manning’s camp quickly requested a trade and the two-time Super Bowl winner ended up being sent to the New York Giants for No. 4 overall pick Phillip Rivers.

So far, Bosa has missed mini camps and six training camp practices. And with the two sides not talking directly for 10 days, it appears the absences will continue. For a Chargers team that was 30th in the league in rush defense in 2015, Bosa would be a much-needed addition.
