Already serving a four-game suspension for a positive drug test and slapped with a media ban because of it, now Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is also going to have to answer to local authorities after an arrest warrant was issued for his failure to appear at a paternity suit court date.
Cleveland.com is reporting that Gordon is alleged to be the father of a 1-year-old girl in the Cleveland area and has repeatedly failed to answer subpoenas or make court appearances.
Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Judge Alison Floyd signed off on the arrest warrant following a failed court appearance on Aug. 31.
This has been an ongoing matter since the mother of the girl, Christina Lockhart, made the court filing for paternity back in July of 2015.
As for Gordon’s lack of answering for this court case, it certainly isn’t for a lack of trying on just about everyone’s part.
Per Cleveland.com:
Subpoenas were sent to Gordon in Los Angeles, and several Cleveland addresses. Gordon never responded to them, according to court records.
The Browns, the NFL, Addidas and powerful sports agent Drew Rosenhaus, who represents Gordon, were also issued subpoenas in the case.
Rosenhaus hasn’t responded to the paper for comment, but it appears that the Browns have been fully aware of the situation at hand for some time now. The team issued a statement acknowledging the warrant and saying that it would not comment any further on the matter.
Gordon was ordered to provide a DNA sample back in September of 2015, but has not done so and he has failed to answer any other subpoenas in the case or anything else related to it.
With all his trouble within the NFL, Gordon also continues to make matters worse for himself off the field as well.
