No charges were levied against Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy for a fight with off-duty Philadelphia cops by the city of Philadelphia, but the legal drama continues for McCoy. Two cops injured in a bar fight with McCoy and others have filed a civil lawsuit against McCoy in a Philadelphia court.

ESPN’s Outside the Lines first reported the filing of the lawsuit.

“Our investigation has confirmed that [officers] Darnell Jessie and Roland Butler were viciously attacked and beaten by LeSean McCoy and the additional defendants. As a result of the violent assault, both men have suffered serious and permanent injuries,” said Fortunato N. Perri Jr., the attorney for the police officers involved in the fight.

McCoy is one of four men identified as a defendant, as well as the establishment the incident took place, Recess Lounge. The after-hours club is accused of not providing adequate security and serving alcohol to McCoy and his friends despite being visibly intoxicated, as claimed in the lawsuit.

The Philadelphia District Attorney reviewed the situation and came to the decision there was not enough substantial evidence to proceed with any action against McCoy and his friends. Not happy with that decision, the Fraternal Order of Police requested for the state’s attorney general’s office to review the details of the situation, which it has responded to with a new ongoing investigation.

The NFL has also chosen not to discipline McCoy for his connection to the bar fight
