It’s April 1st. So on this day of all days, you have to make sure you’re vigilant in checking the calendar. Some Pittsburgh Steelers fans probably learned the hard way this morning.

Running back Le’Veon Bell is rehabbing from his knee injury that kept him out of the second half of last season, and this morning he made an “announcement.”

Naturally, some didn’t take to that very well on the Twitter machine, while others were perceptive enough to actually remember what day it is. And a few cut right through the ruse immediately.

Always believe Mac Miller. Never doubt Mac Miller.

After letting the tweet fester on his timeline for about two hours, sending a few Steelers fans and fantasy owners into a panic-induced spiral, Bell decided to put an end to the chaos.

Notice how the joke tweet got about 2,000 more retweets and 1,300 more likes than the apology tweet, which tells you what can happen on Twitter on a daily basis, April Fool’s or not. And there is no doubt some of America’s best and brightest are still falling for this prank even as this story goes out telling people it was a prank.

Stay woke.
