NFL players need to have something to do in between offseason workouts and Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is getting into the music scene.

Bell has been rapping for a minute (think that’s what the kids say these days) but his debut music video dropped this past Sunday.

Using the alias “Juice,” which may or may not be a good idea to borrow that nickname, Bell posted the video “Machine.” I’m probably not the best person to review a rap song but it doesn’t sound bad. Yeah, there’s some autotune piped in but it’s not the worst song I’ve ever heard. And coming from someone who doesn’t rap for a living, I’m willing to give Bell more leniency.

The video incorporates just enough of the Steelers flavor. Along with a few women, the video is set in a kind of “blue-collar” environment that would be synonymous of the Pittsburgh steel mill presence that the Steelers are known for. In addition, there is a smattering of black and gold throughout the video but it’s not overwhelming.

All in all, even though I’m not exactly in “Juice’s” demographic, this seems like a pretty good first attempt. As the NFL season begins again, Bell will have less time to spend rapping. But at least it seems Le’Veon Bell is trying to carve an area that’s his for a potential post-NFL career.
