With football heading back to Los Angeles in 2016, the push is on to make the Los Angeles worth the hype. What better way to do that than by bringing in a surefire Hall of Fame quarterback for one last hurrah and farewell tour as the NFL returns to the largest media market in the west? The Rams have reportedly had some interest in bringing Peyton Manning to Los Angeles in 2016, and now Magic Johnson is chipping in to lend his support in wooing Manning to L.A.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night, Manning and Johnson were guests. During Magic’s appearance, he compared his playing style during his own hall of fame career to Manning in suggesting each tried everything to make their teammates better around them. After Fallon asked about Johnson buying season tickets for the Rams (he says he was first in line), Johnson shared how he tried convincing Manning to come out of retirement.

“I tried to talk somebody out of retirement and come to the Rams,” Johnson said as he pointed to Manning sitting beside him. “I said ‘Man, if you play again, come to the Rams.'”Manning took it all in stride and tried to deflect the attention and focus of the interview back on Magic.

Johnson joked about it but did show an enthusiasm for the return of the NFL to Los Angeles. Johnson has certainly enjoyed being a fan of the local teams after a long career with the Lakers. Johnson has invested in the Los Angeles Dodgers and now can be a face of the Rams fan as it comes back to the city.

Johnson and Manning also played a game of Egg Russian Roulette and Manning had a chance to address the Eli Face moment that captivated the football world.
