Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte wished everyone a Happy Festivus on Wednesday, and even brought the all-important aluminum pole to do so.

Forte credited as the actor, executive producer, and creator of the video — even in Seinfeld style — as the Bears surely let the longtime Chicago star running back do basically whatever the hell he wants in what is likely to be his final season with the team.

The upcoming free-agent addressed that topic as well on Wednesday, and doesn’t sound very optimistic about his Bears future:

“I mean, I want to return, yeah,” he told the media at Halas Hall on Wednesday. “But if you’re saying ‘Am I hopeful that I do return,’ there’s not much to hope for right now. Because like I said, I talked to (the Bears’ front office) earlier and they haven’t said anything back. So there’s nothing really to hope for.”

Given that Forte will be a 30-year-old running back next season, and with the Bears having an impressive rookie running back in Jeremy Langford, the 5-9 team will likely choose to spend their money at other positions (like, all over the defense).

So while we appreciate Forte’s “Happy Festivus” wishes, we’d probably find his “Airing of Grievances” more entertaining on this Frank Costanza-created holiday.
