When you have already been eliminated from the NFL playoffs, the excuses for your lack of execution start flying out.

It becomes a blame game at times but with the New York Giants, they had a built in excuse with their receivers going on a boat trip in Miami the week before their loss to the Packers. They were photographed shirtless on the boat and were later seen at a club with Justin Bieber. Whether or not those activities were to blame for their loss, many were already starting to point fingers at it to put the blame somewhere.

Giants safety Landon Collins let slip while on SportsCenter that the receivers almost weren’t alone on that boating trip.

“We actually were invited. We decided not to go. Just we wanted — there’s a receivers group and there is [defensive backs] group — so it was like I’m going to go with my DBs. And we decided to do something different.”

It almost sounds like Collins wanted the world to know that he could’ve partied if he wanted to, but he wants to set the record straight that he had other, better plans. A topic that was already in the back of most public’s minds is now, once again, at the forefront of Giants fans’ consciousness.

When Collins was asked what the defensive backs did instead of the trip, he responded with a smile and said “I can’t say out loud.” While cryptic, it is best for him to not draw anymore attention to this couple of weeks old news story.

Giants head coach Ben McAdoo was supportive of his players (at least in public) after being asked what he thought about the trip. Time and time again he said that “the players are off, they’re not working.”

Will this story die on the vine, or could this end up being a continuous off-season storyline? If Collins’ latest comments are any indication, get ready for a long offseason, Giants fans.
