The Los Angeles Rams are in Jacksonville this afternoon for a rare late game from the Eastern time zone. Factoring in the Jacksonville setting and craziness was always likely to ensue. In this case, it didn’t wait around.

Here’s Pharoh Cooper fielding the opening kickoff and taking it the other way:

Let’s also pause for a moment to note two things. First, Pharoh Cooper is a fantastic name on its own; that he combines it with the @KingTutt_chdown Twitter handle takes it to the next level. Second, the Rams are still doing that weird-ass thing where they have the white helmet horns but gold uniform accents.

Pick a side! The white horn is a clean look, and white/navy isn’t really an NFL color scheme, at least not on its own. (The Bears have a white/navy uniform, but with orange accents. The Colts is a lighter blue. The Texans have a lot of red, etc.

What hurts even more is that their yellow/blue throwbacks are absolutely awesome, and going back to Los Angeles would have been the perfect time to bring them back full-time.

Anyway, Rams-rant over, they kicked the ball off to Jacksonville, and the Jags ran the game’s first play from scrimmage. It was a run call, giving the ball to rookie stud Leonard Fournette. Astute readers might be able to figure out what happens next:

Oh man, that breakaway speed is something special. He splits those two defensive backs and is just instantly gone, they may as well have been the Thwomps from Bowser’s Castle on MarioKart 64. Go right through them and never look back.

So, twenty-five seconds into the game, and it was tied 7-7. The scoring pace hasn’t exactly slowed, either; it’s currently 17-14 with about eight minutes left in the second quarter. Also both these teams are 3-2. What a world!
