Robert Woods against the Vikings.

Thursday was a very good night for Los Angeles Rams’ receiver Robert Woods…until he got home. Woods caught five passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in the Rams’ 38-31 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football, but then returned home to find his San Fernando Valley home burglarized. TMZ has more:

Clearly, somebody knew he would be out of the house (the game was nationally televised) and burglarized Robert’s San Fernando Valley pad.

We’re told when Woods returned to his home after the game, he called police — but since no alarm was set, it’s unclear exactly when the burglary took place. It appears the intruder entered through a back window. Sources say cops and Woods are trying to put together a list of what was taken.

USA Today’s Scott Gleeson got further details from the police Friday afternoon:

Los Angeles Police Department public information officer Jeff Lee confirmed to USA TODAY Sports that a burglary report was made on a home on the 23000 block of Mariano Street in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Woodland Hills on Thursday. The address matches Woods’ home address based on property records.

The LAPD’s Lee said three suspects entered the property through the back of the residence, breaking a glass door. Property was reported stolen, although it was unclear how valuable. The three suspects were wearing hoodies and spotted fleeing the residence.

Lee said the department’s Topanga Division was dispatched and opened the burglary investigation, which is currently in the “preliminary stages.”

That’s certainly unfortunate for Woods. And it comes after two burglaries of Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder Yasiel Puig’s home during games, one during Game 7 of the World Series last November and one during a September game this year. There may not be any explicit links to the Puig incidents, but it does appear like some athletes have been targeted during gametimes, when robbers can be sure they won’t be home. And that’s a problematic trend.
