Carson Palmer might be moving on from the Arizona Cardinals.

Jody Oehler of Fox Sports 910 reports he was told Palmer has listed his Arizona home for sale, pulled his kids from school and moved out of the state.

It should be noted there are conflicting reports on whether Palmer’s house is up for sale. But, if true, this could signal the beginning of the end for Palmer with the Cards.

Palmer still has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of just over $20 million. Coming off an OK season in which Arizona failed to make the playoffs after entering the season as Super Bowl contenders, Palmer hasn’t committed to playing next season. He’s admitted he’ll be back if his body feels up to it, but at 37-year-old, there’s no telling how much wear-and-tear he has.

The Cardinals would certainly like to have Palmer back. He’s a productive veteran quarterback who knows the offense and can serve as a stabilizing presence as Arizona attempts to figure out what went wrong last season. The organization’s current backup, Drew Stanton, who would be a significant downgrade from Palmer.

Arizona needs Palmer more than he needs them. If he walks away, the Cardinals trajectory next season will change. Whether the report is an indication of that will remain to be seen.
