With Richard Sherman and Rex Ryan matched up against each other on Monday Night Football, you knew there had to be some sort of controversy, right?
And that’s exactly what happened. Right before the end of the first half, the Buffalo Bills lined up for a field goal. With Sherman bolting across the line offsides, the Seattle Seahawks defensive back ended up lunging at Buffalo kicker Dan Carpenter’s knee and caused all sorts of controversy.
Here’s the field goal attempt that started the brouhaha:
The animosity over the field goal attempt didn’t fade away as the game continued. Later in the game, Sherman had an interception, and as he was along the Buffalo sideline, he and Rex Ryan got into a yelling match:
With these two outspoken figures, there was sure to be plenty of postgame banter. It didn’t take long to start, as Sherman went first when talking on the field to ESPN’s Lisa Salters.

With a topic like this, we are sure to get reaction from plenty of analysts, including Randy Moss. He took this as an opportunity to take a shot at NFL officiating.

With Seattle coming out on top, Sherman obviously gets the last laugh. But as you can tell, this is a sticky situation that will likely get plenty of play amongst sports media this week. The NFL might not always be getting the greatest play on its Monday night package, but this sort of drama can only help ratings.
