“Rob Gronkowski records a PSA to warn people not to eat laundry detergent” is a sentence I never thought I would write, but it’s 2018 and seemingly any outrageous thing is possible now so here we are.

In recent weeks, there has been a trend of people doing the “Tide pod challenge” where people record themselves eating a Tide pod even though it’s filled with laundry detergent and can be incredibly harmful as well as send you to the emergency room.

Because the pods look like candy, there is a real danger of young kids or older people with dementia mistaking the pods for candy and eating them but the people in these videos know what they’re eating and are just doing it because they’re idiots who want to go viral.

Rob Gronkowski, who isn’t necessarily known for being a responsible adult, is a spokesperson for Tide for their pods. Gronk plays up a persona where he’s a partying buffoon but he knows not to poison yourself by eating detergent so he filmed a PSA for Tide and posted it on their social media channels.

I might not take Gronk’s advice all the time but I will here and say to not eat these pods. There’s a chance it could be lethal and if it’s not, you’re probably going to go to the emergency room to get your stomach pumped or at the very least, have diarrhea the rest of the day. I think I would try something else if I was looking to do something stupid.
