Warren Sapp was the recipient of a little karmic justice on Wednesday.

The former NFL defensive lineman was bitten by a shark while on a chartered lobstering expedition in the Florida Keys, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

In case you forgot, Sapp was accused of assaulting his girlfriend in June of last year. Among the details of the alleged assault was the now ironic accusation that Sapp bit his ex-girlfriend. This came a few months after Sapp was arrested for soliciting and assaulting a pair of prostitutes before being subsequently fired from his studio gig with the NFL Network.

The captain of the charter boat, Jack Carlson, told Times reporter Greg Auman via text that Sapp is OK, and said the incident happened when Sapp and the shark were both aiming for the same lobster.

Carlson said Sapp “may need stitches” for the injury — to the inside of his left forearm, near the elbow — but that he kept fishing. “We bandaged it up, put some gauze on there, some black electrical tape and hit a couple more spots, then headed in,” Carlson said.

The shark made a clean getaway.
