As the Rams begin a new chapter in their franchise history back in Los Angeles and with No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff in tow, it’s a good time to remember that the recent history of Rams quarterbacks has been downright awful.

Sam Bradford, Kellen Clemmens, Nick Foles, Case Keenum, Austin Davis, etc. None of them are going to be remembered fondly by Rams or NFL fans alike.

Owner Stan Kroenke, in an attempt to prove he knows what he’s doing, and in an attempt to prop up his new quarterback, just took credit for finding the Rams best quarterback in the last 20 years, Kurt Warner.

Kroenke said, “Dick Vermeil asked me my opinion on who the third quarterback should be,” which is hilarious because the Rams were still quite terrible in 1998 and the third QB is not something the head coach usually asks a minority owner for an opinion on, but go on Stan.

“Nobody knew anything about Kurt, but I watched the scrimmage, and this is the similarity with Goff: I told Dick, ‘OK, I’ve never played football, but you want my opinion? The kid from Northern Iowa can see. He’s got vision. It’s like a really good point guard. Some guys have it, some guys don’t. Whether it’s Arena Football that gave it to him or whatever, but he can see.'”

Kroenke then offered glowing praise to his new prized quarterback by saying, “…And Jared has that. It’s the vision thing.”

I wonder if it’s the same vision that helped Kroenke endorse those other quarterbacks between Warner and Goff that tried to steer the Rams sinking ship the last six seasons. If that’s the case, good luck Jared, you might need it.
