Teddy Bridgewater reportedly suffered a gruesome leg injury during Vikings practice today. The Vikings medical staff has yet to give an official prognosis, but Bridgewater was taken away in an ambulance, and that’s certainly not a good sign.

You have to imagine with an ambulance being called for the injury, it was especially bad. That’s not normal on an NFL football field, and reports had Bridgewater’s teammates on the field praying.

The injury was so bad, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says that teammates became ill when they saw Bridgewater’s leg, according to ProFootballTalk:

“Gruesome, according to some people there, is absolutely what it was. Players were disturbed, throwing up, not wanting to see, looking away as quickly as possible,” Rapoport said.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer held a press conference Tuesday afternoon, and said that things don’t look good long term for Bridgewater, as you might expect.

ProFootballTalk’s Michael David Smith says that Zimmer fought back tears in talking about Bridgewater, and how the quarterback was sedated after his injury. Smith also says that Zimmer called Bridgewater’s mother, which is undoubtedly a sign of just how serious the injury was.

While we don’t know the extent of the injury to the Vikings quarterback, it’s not looking up.

UPDATE: Devastating news for Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings, as he has suffered a dislocated knee and torn ACL. Obviously this will end his season and now puts his 2017 status into question as well.
