Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, as demonstrated by raw numbers and four Super Bowl rings. And one would guess a player of his caliber wouldn’t have a crush on another quarterback.

However, Brady does indeed have a football crush on someone else in the league — Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Just how big is the crush? Brady finds a way to get his fill even if the Packers are playing the late night game and he’s got to be in to the Patriots offices early in the morning. In fact, Brady calls watching Aaron Rodgers play “appointment television.”

“Everything really looks effortless with him, which is probably the amazing part. He’s definitely working hard, but he’s making hard look easy. It’s a very effortless style he plays with. The velocity of the ball, the placement of the ball, he’s just an incredible player. He works very hard at it, he’s a very talented player, and he’s just having an incredible season. It’s fun to watch him play I always love watching him play. Whenever he’s on, I usually stay up and watch.”

In an interview on WEEI, Brady admitted to making a point to watch Rodgers because he marvels at his ability to do things no other quarterback in the NFL can do.

“I think he does things that no one in the league has ever done, or can do, just because of his physical ability,” Brady said. “Some of the plays he makes are just — they’re just phenomenal. Not just the throws but the scrambles.”

One could see why Brady might be impressed with Rodgers’ scrambles, because few would call Brady a “mobile” quarterback at this point or at any point in his career. Brady’s key ability is reading defenses and getting rid of the football quickly. It’s that combination that has allowed Brady to shine in winning four Super Bowl rings.

The man he envies at times? Rodgers has only been to two Super Bowls and has just one ring to date.

However, that could change this season, as Rodgers continues to drive Green Bay’s crazy eight-game unbeaten streak right to the NFC championship game.

All that stands between Brady and a matchup with the quarterback he loves watching is a Packers win at Atlanta and his own Patriots taking care of the Steelers in the AFC championship game.

Who wouldn’t want to see the two most iconic quarterbacks of their generations go at in the Super Bowl? Let’s just say those $6,000 ticket packages being offered would seem like a bargain should that happen.
