People will bet on just about anything these days, but there’s one sport that’s better to bet on than any other — the National Football League.

We’ve got your proof right here, as ESPN reports two friends, Brian Yankelevitz and Russ Axelrod, decided to pool together $300 and bet on a team that needed to run the table to get to the NFL playoffs. Their choices were limited around Thanksgiving, but the duo put it all on the Green Bay Packers.

Eight games later and that initial $300 bet has been rolled over eight straight times to now total just a shade over $28,000. A truly incredible total, but these guys are all about going big and going home winners.

Despite that crazy return on “investment,” the duo plans to turn that money over again and take the Packers against the spread Sunday vs. the Falcons and again in the Super Bowl if Green Bay gets that far.

It took just a few hours for them to cash in the ticket worth exactly $28,213.60 and bet it all right back on the Packers over the Falcons. The sportsbook must have been happy to see that total getting re-invested after Las Vegas sports books got crushed on bets in the NFL divisional round this past Sunday.

As for Brian Yankelevitz, college basketball junkies might be familiar with the name. He was a former Cal State-Long Beach player and a one-time assistant to Seth Greenberg at USF back in the day.

Naturally, a former college basketball assistant coach would turn in to a degenerate gambler. After all, that sport has never had issues with gambling or anything.

Right now the Packers need to win or not get beat by four or more points for the duo to keep their $28,000 earnings in their pockets at the very least.

Kids… please don’t try this at home. Gambling like this rarely works itself out, which is, you know, the reason it is called “gambling” and such.
