The last time Vince Young played in an NFL game was in 2011. Three years later in 2014, he retired. Three years after his retirement, the quarterback reportedly wants to play again.

Six years. That’s how long it’s been since Young, 33, last played in an NFL game way back on December 18th, 2011. However, in that game for the Philadelphia Eagles against the New York Jets, Young never attempted a pass.

The last time Young actually threw the ball in an NFL game was during a December 1st, 2011 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Young went 17-for-29 through the air with 208 passing yards, one touchdown, and an incredible four interceptions.

During his last season in 2011, Young played in six games and finished with a completion percentage of 57.9%, four touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

The 3rd overall pick by Tennessee in the 2006 NFL draft out of Texas formally retired in 2014, but now wants to come out of retirement according to his new agent, Leigh Steinberg.

For Young to come back, one should argue that he’ll need a miracle. In today’s NFL world, a lot of teams in need of a quarterback have two much more enticing options in Tony Romo (if he’s traded or released) and Jimmy Garoppolo (if the Patriots decide to trade him), not to mention top NFL Draft targets Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson.

As a result, the chances of Young playing in another NFL game are slim. However, there is always the possibility that Young could play in a foreign league like the Canadian Football League to establish a baseline of what he could provide an NFL team.

It’ll also be interesting to see if Young tries to come back as a quarterback or a different position. Steinberg, Young’s new agent, didn’t detail whether Young would like to play in the NFL again as a quarterback or at a different position.

If Young does successfully make a comeback, let’s just hope he’s as fun to watch as he was at Texas. Although that’s asking for a lot.
