A 2-3 start doesn’t seem to have stopped the Arizona Cardinals from having fun ahead of their Monday night game against the New York Jets.

As members of the Cardinals began to take the field prior to their primetime matchup, one player stood out amongst the rest. That was Arizona cornerback Patrick Peterson, who came out on the field and ran around in a dinosaur costume. Peterson was reportedly wearing the costume because he lost a bet with the Cardinals’ quarterbacks.

While the ESPN crew laughed at Peterson, we were able to get an explanation as to why Peterson was doing what he was doing. According to ESPN’s Suzy Kolber, Peterson and Arizona’s quarterbacks drop a dime in a bucket. The person that loses this challenge is forced to go out on the field in a ridiculous costume like the one Peterson is wearing.

This whole situation is strange, but it is damn near impossible not to laugh at Peterson. For a guy who has really good footwork and relies on his ability to move quickly to make plays, his speed is pretty much knocked out by the inflatable dinosaur costume.

This is a funny and admirable thing for the Cardinals to do. Hopefully we see more ridiculousness like this from Arizona in pregame warmups throughout this season.
