While you’re likely watching the NFC Championship Game, weird things are happening in the NHL during a game between the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins.
The teams went to the first intermission with 6:26 left in the first period… due to a hole in the ice at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena.
Due to required ice maintenance, the remaining 6:26 of 1st pd. in #BOSvsPIT will be played after intermission, followed by the 2nd pd.

Here's the 411: Intermission now. Then we will play the 6:26 left from the 1st period. The players will switch sides and start the 2nd.

I’d say a hole in the ice is a pretty good reason to halt play of an ice hockey game.
Here’s video of the hole in the ice and decision to go to intermission early:
And, yes, Twitter then took the opportunity to blame this on Bill Belichick and the Patriots:
Does Bill Belichick have a relative on the PPG Paints Arena ice maintenance crew? Asking for a friend……

Bill Belichick definitely put that hole in the ice
