Kevin Fiala injury

A scary moment occurred early on in Game 1 between the Predators an the Blues when Nashville winger Kevin Fiala went flying into the boards and stayed down on the ice for several minutes. The team’s training staff quickly tended to the Predators rookie before carting him off the ice.

When Fiala skated with the puck into St. Louis’ defensive zone, Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo tried to body him up. On the replay, you can see Fiala already started to lose his footing as Bortuzzo came over, and then he went feet first into the boards.

The Predators later announced that Fiala went to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. The good news is that he’s in stable condition.

You never want to see anybody leave with an injury. But it’s extra tough for Fiala, a 20-year-old rookie playing in his first NHL Playoffs. He was also the hero in Game 3 of the Predators’ first round sweep over the top-seeded Blackhawks with a game-winning goal in overtime.
