Hockey players can be a strange bunch, but they can also be a very inspiring bunch as well. Such is the case with Shane Doan of the Phoenix Coyotes.

After setting the franchise record for goals, Doan is set to be honored at a special pre-game ceremony and part of that is correcting a few ‘urban legends.’

One of them just so happens to be a mystery player who stepped up and paid the health insurance benefits for all the equipment staff and trainers during the 2004 lockout.

Watch as Doan coyly admits to it with a smile and a “it is what it is.”
