It appears the social media person for the San Jose Sharks is having a really tough day. It looks like, in a tough state of mind, they accidentally tweeted their sadness from the team’s official Twitter account.

A random tweet appeared on the Sharks’ social feed with an incredibly sad note, reading “when you’re working in Vegas at the #NHLAwards and your family texts you saying they put your dog down.” That’s rough.

Snafus happen – and this was a fairly big one. Obviously, tweeting from the team account instead of their personal account was a mistake. But, instead of making fun of or lynching the writer of the tweet, many Twitter users expressed sympathy towards the social person. And that’s cool to see.

In what can be a tough crowd, it’s sort of refreshing to see hockey Twitter come together and express sympathy towards the Sharks’ social person and their dog. Mostly everybody’s had to deal with a loss of the pet – except, not in such a public way. Finding out you lost your pet while you’re (assumably) away covering the NHL Awards in Las Vegas would be awful. The person clearly just wanted to vent and picked the wrong account to tweet from. Ugh.

Feel better, San Jose Sharks’ media person. We’re here for you. Hopefully, you can get off work soon and find time to grieve.
