Earlier this week, Sidney Crosby scored one of the best goals of the year with an insane one-handed goal against the Sabres. Crosby is back in the headlines once again on Thursday, but this time it’s for inflicting what might be one of the most disgusting injuries of the season.

While attempting to slash Marc Methot’s stick to prevent the Senators defenseman from dumping the puck into the Penguins’ zone, Crosby caught more of Methot’s hand than the actual stick. The result was a gruesome injury in which the tip of Methot’s finger was left dangling by a thread.

Warning: This is a graphic video. If you don’t want to see a guy’s finger looking real disgusting, we won’t be mad at you if you bail now.

Your finger isn’t supposed to look like that, Marc!

Crosby’s slash didn’t appear to be intentional, but Methot probably won’t care about intent when he’s trying to get the tip of his finger reattached. Methot initially skated over to challenge Crosby, but then didn’t know how to react after seeing the injury (can you blame him? Look at that thing), so he simply skated off the ice with his ring finger awkwardly extended.

Due to the nature of the play, Crosby wasn’t penalized despite the rather graphic aftermath.

  1. Of course nothing will happen to Crosby. He’s Bettman’s love child. Cindy Crosby should be suspended for the rest of the season. This kind of garbage has pushed me away from watching hockey. The double standards are disgraceful.
