The Washington Capitals beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday night to win their first championship in franchise history.

It’s been a very elusive Cup for the Capitals, a team that won the Presidents’ Trophy the previous two seasons and has annually been one of the favorites on paper, but kept having their seasons end in disappointment. Until now.

And it’s also the first championship for 13-year Washington superstar Alex Ovechkin.
