Irish boxer Paddy Barnes has been poking a stick at golfer Rory McIllroy for a little while now, but he may have just delivered the knockout blow on Twitter during the Opening Ceremony to the Olympics on Friday night. In a selfie taken with McIllroy’s ex-fiance, Caroline Wozniaki, Barnes cracked a joke at McIllroy’s expense once more.
Hey @CaroWozniacki I think we make a great couple, what ya think @McIlroyRory pic.twitter.com/Fk2nbMjlRh

McIlroy and Wozniaki (who carried the flag for Denmark in the opening ceremony) broke off their engagement in 2014, reportedly over a brief phone call.
Learned today at Roland Garros that Rory McIlroy called off his engagement with Caroline Wozniacki by telephone. Tough to comprehend that

Barnes has taken to Twitter to mock McIlroy in the past leading up to the games, including having some fun with McIlroy’s decision to sit out of the Olympics amid concerns about Zika.
@McIlroyRory you should have came mate, they had this bed set up for you and everything! #RioOlympics pic.twitter.com/vAMAmLgvQh

Barnes followed up his selfie tweet with Wozniacki later by saying he was just having fun with McIlroy. We’re not sure how closely McIlroy monitors his tweets, but we’re dying to know how much humor he finds in this.
