Canoe Sprint on Day 10 of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at Lagoa Stadium on August 15, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Another athlete, another doping scandal, another stripped medal. This time, the lost medal comes in the sport of canoeing, which many of you probably thought would be immune from doping scandals, but you’d be wrong.

Moldovan canoer Serghei Tarnovschi, 19 and Ukraine born, was stripped of his bronze medal in the single 1000 meter Final due to a doping violation. Oddly enough, a Russian, Ilia Shtokalov will earn the bronze in place of the doping Moldovan. German Sebastian Brendel won gold, and Brazilian Isaquias Queiroz dos Santos won silver.

This is the second Olympic medalist who was stripped of a medal thanks to a doping violation. First, it was Kyrgyzstan weightlifter Izzat Artykov who was stripped of his bronze medal for failing a doping test.
