Ben Affleck is denying a wacky rumor (from last month) that he rewrote the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film… while wearing his Batman batsuit.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Affleck said the report was the “dumbest rumor,” and that he never rewrote “anything in any outfit, [his] underwear, or otherwise”:

“That is the dumbest rumor,” said Affleck, who co-wrote the Oscar winner Good Will Hunting. “I just like how if I was gonna go write, I would put on this bat suit first because it’s so comfortable to write in. I didn’t rewrite anything in any outfit, my underwear or otherwise.”

As much as I enjoy visualizing Affleck sitting on set, wearing his costume and going over the script with a sharpie, alas, that rumor has been squashed. It really is tremendously silly when you think about it, which is why I hoped it was true.

It would have made for an excellent behind-the-scenes bonus feature on the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Blu-Ray to see Affleck in his batsuit rewriting the script. It’s also sort of disappointing he didn’t rewrite, given his Oscar-winning background, but I’m sure the film is in good hands under Chris Terrio (who won an Academy Award for writing Argo).

In other Affleck rumors that have been debunked, the infamous back tattoo he had supposedly gotten — which the Phoenix Suns had recently teased him about — isn’t real. He says the fake tattoo is for a film, probably Live By Night, which he wrote, directed and starred in.

For those wanting to see Affleck in his batsuit, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice finally hits theaters this Friday, March 25.
