Garth Brooks is coming to a bag of chips near you. Seriously.

Frito-Lay announced in a press release, they’re teaming up with the popular country singer to give fans a chance to listen to Brooks’ new single simply by buying chips. Yes, starting this month, anyone who purchases a bag of Fritos Corn Chips will find a code for his new single “Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance.”

It’s an interesting promotion to link a bank of corn chips to a song about having sex. Seriously, read these lyrics (or if you’re a brave person like myself, listen to the song here).

“I get this feeling I can’t explain, every time I see your face or hear you name. I just go crazy, thinking baby this may be my chance.”

Alrighty.

Frito turned an interesting choice of phrase in a press release, saying they’ve been “satisfying fans for more than 80 years” so it’s logical they’d partner with Brooks.

“You don’t get any bigger or better than Garth Brooks, and we’re completely honored to help give fans a fun way to discover his newest work,” said Christina Clarke, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America. “Fritos has been an American icon satisfying fans for more than 80 years, so it’s only fitting that we’d be teaming up with a legendary icon like Garth Brooks for an unprecedented offer like this.”

The promotion isn’t as forceful as Apple’s deal with U2, where songs were automatically added to devices without the option of declining. Customers will have the choice to download the song or ignore the code. But, the last thing I want to think of while enjoying some corn chips is Brooks singing about wanting to get it in. It’s a hard pass from me.
