NBC apparently has a love affair with the British comedy The IT Crowd. It would make sense that after successfully adapting The Office for American television, they could do the same for another hilarious office sitcom.

The issue is that, they have tried twice before and had various degrees of failure. So now, Variety reports that NBC is trying a third time for an American IT Crowd.

If you are unfamiliar with the British version of  The IT Crowd, it’s about two nerds who work in IT at a company, their boss who knows nothing about IT and the head of the company who may be the worst person you could have as a boss. Think of it like The Big Bang Theory but they don’t shove it in your face how smart the characters are.

NBC attempted their first remake ten years ago with only Richard Ayoade reprising his role as Moss. For Roy, they got Joel McHale and a pilot was filmed. And because of McHale’s half-assed approach of the role and the fact he was incredibly wrong for that role, it fueled my hatred for McHale and everything he’s ever been in. Sorry Community fans.

A few years ago, NBC tried again but this version never got off the ground to even cast the roles. Now, NBC is trying for a third time and it seems they are serious in making this work. NBC has hired British version show runner Graham Linehan to run the American version so maybe this won’t suck as much.
