Dave Chappelle Netflix

Not long after Dave Chappelle served as host of Saturday Night Live comes word Chappelle is set to have three brand new comedy specials airing exclusively on Netflix.

It’s been a long time coming for Chappelle fans.

“Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,” said Netflix Vice President of Original Documentary and Comedy (that is quite a title) Lisa Nishimura. “Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy.”

They will absolutely be anticipated. The last time Chappelle had a comedy special on TV was 12 years ago. It should be expected he will have plenty of material to use since his last special. Stan Latham will be the producer and will co-direct with Chappelle for a brand new, original comedy special.

Two others will actually be pulled from archives to show off performances from Austin City Limits and the Hollywood Palladium. Those two specials from the vault are due out in the next year, but a date for the original special has not been announced at this time.

This country is going to need some laughter in 2017 and beyond, and Chappelle will be there to help provide it.
